Coronary artery dissection caused by exit of the guidewire through the distal perfusion sidehole of an auto-perfusion angioplasty balloon catheter.

چکیده
A previously unrecognized cause of coronary artery dissection is reported. A 67-year-old woman underwent angioplasty of the right coronary artery using an autoperfusion balloon catheter. Dissection occurred because the balloon catheter was advanced while the guidewire exited from one of the distal perfusion sideholes.

Serial Myocardial Imaging after a Single Dose of Thallium-201
Although thallium-201 exercise scintigraphy has been established for the detection of myocardial ischemia and viability, little is known regarding the myocardial thallium-201 kinetics during angioplasty. Herein, we report a 77-year old man with angina pectoris, in whom serial myocardial imaging after a single dose of thallium-201 was helpful in identifying not only the culprit lesion and myocar...
متن کاملPreservation of distal coronary perfusion during prolonged balloon inflation with an autoperfusion angioplasty catheter.
A newly designed balloon coronary angioplasty catheter that allows passive antegrade blood flow during balloon inflation (autoperfusion catheter) was compared with a standard balloon coronary angioplasty catheter. In a randomized sequence, inflations were performed for 3 min in the left circumflex coronary artery of 12 dogs with the standard catheter followed by the autoperfusion catheter or vi...
متن کاملTemporary stent as a bail-out device during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty: preliminary clinical experience.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a prototype temporary stent (RX Flow Support Catheter, Advanced Cardiovascular Systems) in maintaining coronary perfusion and improving vessel patency in the event of acutely compromised flow complicating percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. DESIGN Prospective clinical study as part of a multicentre trial. SETTING Regional cardiac ...
متن کامل[Retrograde angioplasty in chronic total occlusion].
The present article presents the case of a 70-year-old male, with a history of acute anterolateral myocardiac infarction (AMI) in 1986 and inferior AMI in 1992. Coronary arteriography was performed in 1995, which showed occlusion of the distal RCA and stenosis in 90% of the proximal LAD, with an ejection fraction (EF) of 29%. Balloon angioplasty was performed in the proximal LAD. The patient wa...
متن کاملA simple practical balloon anchoring technique within the guide catheter for chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the coronary artery
Dear Editor: Chronic total occlusions (CTOs) of the coronary artery are commonly encountered complex lesions [1] . Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for CTO is technically challenging due to low procedural success rates [2] . Microcatheter is one of the important devices for treatment of CTO [3] . It has been widely used attributed to the excellent crossability whenever angulation and to...
